The Flower Barrow owner Melissa Lovell said things started to pick up at her Launceston Quadrant Mall stall yesterday and the trend would continue until late Sunday.
She said the most popular flowers were chrysanthemums.
"I don't know if it's because it's a traditional Mother's Day flower or because it's got mum at the end," she said.
The Examiner asked its Facebook friends yesterday what were the best and worst presents they had received on Mother's Day.
"Best was getting woken up by my kids with breakfast in bed, they made it themselves. Best present a mother could have," Courtney Maynard said.
Kristy Garwood said: "My darling son, when he was younger, bought me some fudge from the Mother's Day stall at school, ate half of it, wrapped it up, complete with tooth marks, and gave it to me for Mother's Day."
Vanessa Seale said her daughter and husband once made her breakfast in bed, which was mussels on toast.
"[They] watched while I ate it, it was disgusting, and I once got a rock, not a diamond, just a garden rock - I still have it," she said.
To ensure people don't miss out on buying presents this Mother's Day, many stores will be open on Sunday, including The Flower Barrow.
Mrs Lovell said she would open at 8am and was expecting a busy day.
Many restaurants have recommended booking for breakfast or lunch before Sunday.
