The alert, issued before 10am this morning, covers North West Coast, Central North, North East, Central Plateau and Midlands districts.
"Reduced visibility in heavy rain will make road conditions dangerous during today in parts of the North West Coast, Central North, North East, Central Plateau and Midlands forecast districts," the Bureau of Meteorology said.
It has also issued a flood warning for the North of the state, warning of falls of 40mm to 60mm with heavier falls possible in elevated areas, particularly about the Western Tiers.
It said strong river and stream rises are possible for the late afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology has advised people contact their local councils or police for up-to-date information.
