Emergency services are on the scene at Roaring Beach near Nubeena.

Police said the man was in his 50s and it appeared that he was caught in a rip while swimming.

His family was with him.

The Westpace Helicopter also attended the scene.

Emergency services ask all recreational water users to take care and be mindful of their family and friends for the duration of the long weekend.
