Acting president Paul Hawkins said that there was a flagged beach at Goftons Beach, from which it would stage patrols every weekend or public holiday between December and March.
``The club will also respond to emergencies and assist with major events like the Bridport Triathlon and the huge Bridport Splash celebration on Australia Day,'' he said.
``The club continues to grow, with 20 new Bronze Medallion patrol members doing pre-season training to join the club's patrols in 2014.
``Nippers - for 5-12yo - competition surf sports training - for seven-year-old to adult - and life saving training - from 13-years-old to adult - started on Sunday, January 5, and will be held every Sunday during January and February from 11am.
``A workshop for everyone from nippers to seniors will be held on Saturday January 11, from 10am-3pm.
``This is for new and experienced members as well as parents and instructors wanting to improve their understanding of surf sports.''
The workshop is free for members and $20 for non-members.
