Committee member David Palmer said it was decided to help The Examiner Empty Stocking Appeal and draw the raffle winners at yesterday's market.
Newnham's Mary Bell won first prize and Margaret Howard, of Invermay, second.
``All the stallholders donated items for two Christmas baskets full of goodies and put collection tins on their stalls to get that little bit extra - most of the tins were rattling pretty well by the afternoon,'' he said.
``A few of us lost fingernails trying to open the tins to count the money, but with no success, so we'll drop them into ?ifThe Examiner (today) and they can open them.
``The raffle raised $135 - there were just 15 tickets left but we ran out of people to sell them to, and we're pretty happy with the result.''
The market is held in the grounds and hall of the Lilydale Football Club in Doaks Road.
It will run from 9.30am to 1.30pm on the second and fourth Sunday of the month from December until March and on the second Sunday of the month between April and November.
Stalls can be booked by calling Fran Rothwell on 0407 424 524 or Hester Bowen on 0407 446 533.
