Fourteen registered longarms were stolen from a gun safe in a Glenorchy home sometime over the weekend.
The firearms were all registered and correctly stored, according to Tasmania Police.
No arrests have been made and the firearms are still outstanding.
"We're appealing to members of the public to provide any knowledge of the offence," Glenorchy CIB Detective Sergeant David Gill said. The guns were stored in a safe in a shed at the rear of the property and no ammunition was stolen.
Detective Gill said the stolen weapons were all rifles of varying calibres.
Police are still unsure how the offenders might have known the guns were stored there.
"Let me make myself clear, Tasmania Police has stated on a number of occasions that there is absolutely no evidence to suggest the firearms database has been breached or corrupted," Detective Sergeant Gill said.
Fifteen guns were stolen from a house in Mornington in August followed by the theft of six firearms from a Margate residence in November.
Members of the public with information are asked to contact Glenorchy CIB on 62302881 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
