Up to 220 delegates will converge at the Hotel Grand Chancellor to hear about berry markets in Australia and overseas.
Fruit Growers Tasmania business manager Lucy Gregg said growers needed to understand the interrelationships between price, quality and consumer and retailer expectations.
Hillwood Berry Farm owner Robin Dornauf, whose farm was included in the conference's berry field trip yesterday, said he would attend the event to hear about the latest trends in his industry.
Mr Dornauf said the delegates visited his farm to look at 18 growing tunnels that were installed at Hillwood for strawberries last year.
``It is not new technology but it is reasonably new to Tasmania,'' Mr Dornauf said.
He said the 130-metre-long tunnels protected his crops from rain and wind damage, and also enabled staff to pick in all weather.
He said the tunnels also produced a higher yield.
The conference ends on Sunday.
