The reference group led by businessman Royce Fairbrother gave its report and eight recommendations on how to determine the viability of state schools to Mr McKim on January 31 and he released it to the public within two hours.
Today Mr McKim said he was bound by cabinet confidentiality on the process and he would not breach that.
He said only Premier Lara Giddings could give an exact date on when the government would reveal its next step.
Mr McKim is also expected to receive the report on the Vocational Education and Training review by the end of next month.
