He's always willing to lend a hand and is consistently at training early and one of the last to leave.
So it's no surprise his peers are rallying around him as he prepares for his 900th NTFA game.
He has officiated 288 games as a boundary umpire and 611 matches as a goal umpire across his 44-year career.
The milestone man will be in the goals for Saturday's premier division reserves clash between South Launceston and Bracknell at Youngtown.
He's stoked to reach the milestone and grateful he's had no serious injuries across the years.
"I like running, I started off as a boundary umpire and got too slow over the years and I took up goal umpiring," he said.
Despite this, the 71-year-old still runs between 8-10 kilometres per day.
He recalled a reserves semi-final where he was run ragged as a boundary umpire when 18 goals were kicked in the first half in the 1980s.
He also reflected on the grand final before the Fingal District Football Association folded.
"Everybody turned up and there was 5500 people there. I was goal umpire and I'll never forget that," he said.
Moroney explained he'd had to wait to reach game 900 with NTFA seasons impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in the past two years.
The Newstead resident, who has umpired countless grand finals, has been on NTFUA's committee for about 20 years.
"It's tremendous, the camaraderie is fantastic and it's all the way through the club," he said.
Both teams will form a guard of honour for the well-respected official on Saturday.
Moroney was a boundary umpire from 1972-1990 and then took up goal umpiring in 1991.
He claimed the 2019 National Umpire Volunteer Award for Tasmania and was nominated for the AFL National Community Umpiring Service award in 2020.
