Directed by Leigh Oswin, the play will run for a week and a half and is centred around a provincial theatre putting on a play.
Executive producer Jeff Hockley, who has a part in the play and is also doing the lighting design said the comedy introduces everyone involved in a series of hilarious scenes linked by a chorus of ushers.
"It's a popular expression 'bums on seats' but it's a theatre term really about trying to fill up a theatre with an audience," he said.
"The play is about a really tacky theatre company working in really awful theatre doing a terrible play.
"Anything that can go wrong, does go wrong and therein lies the comedy of the show, as the audience will be able to see themselves reflected back from what happens on the stage."
Bums on Seats begins at the Earl Arts Centre on April 21. For tickets visit the Theatre North website.
