Around 11.45am yesterday, police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene of the crash, approximately 30km North of St Helens.
The motorbike rider, a 70-year-old American citizen, was located in a critical condition, and sadly declared deceased a short time later.
A crash investigation is being conducted.
At this stage, it is believed the man was riding as part of a touring group, and his motorcycle left the road after failing to negotiate a left-hand bend.
Tasmania Police said they thank members of the public who assisted the rider prior to emergency services arrival at the scene.
