A man has been killed and a woman is critically injured in hospital after they were stabbed in Ravenswood this morning.
Tasmania Police said they received a report of a man entering a Prossers Forest Road property and allegedly stabbing the victims about 3.30am.
The police spokesperson said two teenagers had been inside the house but were physically unharmed. The woman has been taken to Launceston General Hospital in critical condition.
They said the alleged offender, who is known to the victims, has not been located.
"Police are working to locate the offender who is not believed to be a threat to the wider community," a police spokesperson said.
Members of the public have been asked to avoid the Prossers Forest Road area while investigations are underway.
