And a day after adding a state club championships victory to his national title from earlier this year, the teenage trampolinist was delighted to be talked of as a potential future Olympian.

Reflecting on the 16-year-old's impressive progression, state coach Ben Kelly said: "The future is looking bright for Leuca.

"He's performing well for his age group and should move into senior ranks in 2022 or early 2023. His end goal is probably the Olympic cycle after next which is what he has his sights set on."

McLeod admitted Los Angeles 2028 was on his radar.

"That's definitely a goal of mine," he said.

"I'll have to work very hard to achieve that but it would be great and a huge honour to go to an Olympics. It would be very special because there have not been any Tasmanians competing in trampolining at an Olympics so it would be awesome to be the first."

Queensland-born McLeod, who moved from Brisbane to Deloraine earlier this year to be closer to family, won gold in the international under-17 men's double-mini at the Australian championships on the Gold Coast in May and claimed the same title at Launceston PCYC on Saturday.

"I definitely could have done better but I was pleased with my efforts. I did a half-out then half-Rudi which is a forwards double flip with half-twist then a back half-twist and one-and-a-half forward flip.

"There are some really good people in the state so it was a good standard. It's always fun competing with people you know, so it was a good experience. I do trampolining as well but probably enjoy the double-mini more. The feeling is great."

The St Patrick's College student, who was selected to represent Australia at the 2019 World Age Championships in Japan but unable to compete due to illness, trains under Pip Hedley at Launceston PCYC and also with Kelly in Kingborough.
