
For Brisbane Street News and Lotto taking part in The Examiner's Empty Stocking appeal is a huge part of their year.
Having been involved for 20 years owner Garry Matthews said its something that is an integral part of the store.
"It's lovely to see people wanting to be so generous, it's amazing," Mr Matthews said.
"Every year people see the tin come back out again and people just flock in to bring some spare change.

"We have a busker who comes in and puts the money he gets from busking straight into the tin, which is wonderful."
Mr Matthews said that the community spirit is something he looks forward to each year.
"It's all about community and those who are struggling to know that people care and want to help during the Christmas period."
Donations can be placed in tins at numerous newsagency's in Launceston, via bank transfer or using BPAY.
