Tasmania Police were called to Frederick Street, Launceston about 8pm last night following reports that a man was on fire.
Police investigations have determined the incident was accidental, and there are no suspicious circumstances.
The man remains in the burns unit of Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
