The 20-year-old has played lights out for the Cavs this season, indicative of the side's 13-2-1 record and a 1016-582 goals for and against ratio.
"It's been going really well," McDougall said.
"We've been working on partnerships, connecting together as a team, and I think we've been doing that really well.
"We're really excited for the couple of weeks that are coming up [finals]."
This year's ANC is planned to be held at Traralgon, Victoria, across a fortnight.
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT:
The annual tournament has changed across its lifespan, with 2021 fielding a purely Tasmanian team for the first time in a number of years.
This is also McDougall's first year being selected to the team, after being a training partner for the last few competitions.
"It's pretty exciting, it's always fun being with an older group of girls because I've always been in that junior role," McDougall said.
"Now, it's fun and really exciting coming up with the older girls and I'm really excited to play with some girls I haven't with before.
"It kind of feels like all the hard work's paid off, it's really exciting and I'm really excited to just get out there and train with the other girls."
Making a transition from goal shooter to attack, McDougall said adjusting to the more active role was something she hoped to work on between now and the ANC in September.
She'll also be surrounded by Cavaliers teammates at Traralgon, with four other players from the team named to the squad.
"It feels like a bit of a family already having people you know," McDougall said.
"It just makes you feel more comfortable knowing that you have girls you play with, train with in and out each week so that's really comforting."
