The Parrots established an early buffer through Emily McKinnell (two) and Holly Randall, leading by 19 points at the main break, but the home side were unable to add to their score in the second half.
South started to find the scoreboard, creating three chances in the third, before Lisa Patterson and Naomi Baird found the big sticks in the last to give them hope.
But the Parrots held them out, with Emily Nunn, Randall and Letitia Johnston their best, while Hayley Breward, Lucy Sulzberger and Aprille Crooks led for South.
Half of SCOTTSDALE'S side found the big sticks as the Magpies defeated Longford 15.17 (107) to 0.0 (0).
Miranda Oliver, Maggie Cuthbertson, Maddy Reid and Danielle Walters all kicked two with Kresta-Lee Davis and sister duo Lucy Dennis and Alex Hall the Magpies' best.
Ella Brien and Chelsea and Courtney Wells were named Longford's best as the Tigers toiled hard in defeat.
An early lead to HILLWOOD saw the Sharks home, defeating Meander Valley Suns 6.5 (41) to 1.3 (9).
The Sharks started strong to lead by 20 points at the first break and 22 at half-time, before piling on another three goals in the third as one end of the ground saw no majors scored all day.
The Suns, held scoreless until the last term, were able to reverse their fortunes in the last, creating four scoring shots to win the final quarter.
It would be Sophie Townsend who scored their goal, with Hillwood captain Narine Maurangi booting four to lead the round's goalkicking tally.
Teammates Courtney Stanley and Janaha Beeton also kicked majors, with Ella McKenzie, Stanley and Carly Farrow the Sharks' best.
Bree Bowen, Rebecca Hearps and Abbey Bellchambers were named the Suns' best.
