After missing out on the 2019 women's masters football carnival, there are hopes that Tasmania will send a team to this year's event in Perth, Western Australia.
Brighton's SFLW recruit Lianne Salerno is leading the push for 'The Map' to feature when the week-long tournament gets under way on September 26.
"Tassie didn't have a team at the last carnival and I know there are some women that are keen to get on the team, but we're just short of fielding a full team," Salerno said.
"We've got quite a number of girls who are interested but there's only been about half a dozen registered - ideally we'd like to have 20 registered to confirm to the national body that we have a team, we're coming over."
Having helped the Victorian masters women's league get off the ground in 2018, Salerno has bold plans to get a similar competition happening in Tasmania.
She believes there is enough interest statewide to begin a four-team, round-robin competition as early as next season, with two teams from the North and South meeting in a central location on a fortnightly basis.
"The feedback we're had so far has been really positive and quite strong," Salerno said.
"We've had a lot of women coming forward and saying 'I'm interested, when does training start?'
"The men already run a competition called Super Rules, so it'd be really good to jump on with the masters league in Tassie and form the league under the existing men's Super Rules.
"I know the interest is there, it just needs someone to drive it."
