Tasmanian tourism industry members are braving the winter chill today for SPEAK UP Stay ChatTY's Shorts Day.

The initiative was created to celebrate the bravery surrounding speaking up about mental health.
Visit Northern Tasmania's chief executive Chris Griffin said the partnership between tourism and SPEAK UP Stay ChatTY encouraged anyone working within tourism and hospitality to wear shorts to work to support the cause.

"For every 'shorts' image shared on social media, the industry will donate $20 on behalf of that person or business to SPEAK UP Stay ChatTY," he said.
"Some of us are great at asking for help, participating in healthy ways of reducing these stresses of asking after others wellbeing. But not all of us find it easy to reach out."
