Coles Kings Meadows have pulled together to support not one but two community causes by raising funds through a poppy sale and a bake sale.
The Coles team raised nearly a thousand dollars to help the Lilydale RSL maintain their cenotaph by selling two types of poppies.
"[The money] came as a total surprise to us, certainly more than we would raise in a year on our own. And it will help us enormously to finish off the work at our new centopath," Lilydale RSL president Lindsay Godfrey said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The team also raised money for Standby Support After Suicide through a bake sale to help fund books for children who have lost a parent to suicide.
The Kings Meadows Coles team had been personally affected by the issue and decided to raise money for others who may need support in the community.
"It will be wonderful to be able to hand out books to all the children, all the families that we support," Standby team leaderGayle Carroll said.
"We're going to buy this special book set that especially printed for young people.
"It was a wonderful surprise for us."
