Quamby Estate at Hagley is a historic property dating back to 1828 and is a popular location for Tasmanian weddings.
It was the former home of Sir Richard Dry, the first Australian-born state premier and the first Australian recipient of knighthood.
Since then, Quamby Estate has remained one of Tasmania's most desirable private homes, with 10 bedrooms and a private nine-hole golf course, with its own clubhouse in the converted stables.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Knight Frank Northern Tasmania partner Sam Woolcock said the estate would be put up for sale in a national and international expressions of interest process.
"As a residential property, Knight Frank is expecting Quamby to be sold at what will be a Tasmanian record price."
Mr Woolcock said the estate was a work of art and the homestead could be described as a "triumph of architecture".
There are 10 bedrooms, each with an ensuite. He said the dining room's soaring ceilings, handsome floorboards and great proportions inspire ideas for entertaining on a grand scale.
"The adjoining snug, with its own bar and fire-place projects patina and personality that's impossible to resist. A kitchen of commercial capability caters to every modern day need, confirming Quamby has certainly moved with the times," Mr Woolcock said.
"An elegant flag-stone paved verandah wraps around the residence to the north and the east, bringing beautiful light and sublime sights to spaces that include two evocative reception rooms, each rich in classic character, both featuring romantic French doors and magnificent fire-places."
Mr Woolcock said Quamby was once known as the "government house" of Northern Tasmania its history includes significant contributions to Tasmania's rural, cultural and political life.
