Ms O'Byrne said she was heartbroken by her Dad's death, and in the last week of the election campaign would be spending more time with her mother Colleen.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Campaigns are hard, last weeks are usually full on. My Dad was always a big part of mine," she wrote.
"So whilst my fabulous staff and volunteers will be out and available for you to chat to or to follow up on concerns, I won't be able to do as much.
"Most importantly I will spend most of this week wrapping my arms around my beautiful Mum, who has lost her life's love."
A North Launceston and Rosevears footballer, fisherman, tradesman, painter and life member of the Hospital Employees Federation, now known as the Health and Community Services Union, Ms O'Byrne said her father had been "larger than life".
She said her Dad had conquered many health challenges, having survived cancer, and his death had shocked everyone.
"Dad was always larger than life and it's hard to imagine our lives without him. Right now our hearts are broken and there are not enough words to capture his life or our loss."
Her brother David O'Byrne described his father as "Invermay born and bred, a swampy".
He said his Dad was a larrikin who loved to laugh.
"A dancer, a singer, a Collingwood man ... a unionist, rank and file member, shop steward, committee of management member, a life member of his beloved union, the HEF," he wrote.
"An average punter, a master brewer and tradesmen painter of the highest order and Labor through and through."
Brian O'Byrne's funeral is to be held on Thursday in Launceston.
He leaves his wife Colleen, children Michael, Michelle and David, and his grandchildren.
