Professor Katie Flanagan is a world renowned clinician scientist, with qualifications longer than her arm.
"I've been doing a lot of work on COVID vaccines, and I am involved in advising governments on COVID vaccines and the program and rollout in Tasmania," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
During the lecture, Professor Flanagan will be discussing the technologies being used to design COVID-19 vaccines, candidates in preclinical and clinical trials, and phase three trial efficacy results.
She will also discuss the global progress with the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and the Australian COVID-19 strategy and program in more detail.
"We have certainly started our roll out and it seems to be going well," Professor Flanagan said.
"I think this is a very timely talk, and I certainly think we are poised to deliver the vaccines in the state as in the rest of the country."
The talk will also include how to defend against stronger strains of COVID-19.
Professor Flanagan hoped people would leave the talk with an increased confidence in Australia and the vaccines chosen.
The Global and Australian Perspectives for COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout lecture will be held on March 28, from 1.15pm, at QVMAG Inveresk.
Due to COVID-19, registration is required for the event which can be done via email to apcachris@gmail.com. To attend the webinar, register at rst.org.au.
