A Westbury man who was taken home by police after being ejected from a hotel, drove himself back and was caught with a "monstrously high" blood alcohol reading, the Launceston Magistrates Court heard.

Colin Parkes, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of return to licensed premises and a count of drive a motor vehicle while exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit (0.263) in August 2020.
Police prosecutor Katrina Woodgate said Parkes was removed by the Westbury Hotel licensee after being refused service and abusing staff and threatening to burn down the hotel.
Police were called and drove him home and informed his partner that he should not return to the hotel because the licensee did not want him on the premises.
About 9.15pm police were called again after Parkes slammed on the brakes in the middle of the road and walked into the hotel accosting the licensee who escorted him outside again.
Police breath-tested Parkes who returned a high reading and he was detained for seven hours before being released.
Defence counsel Grant Tucker said his client was embarrassed by his behaviour.
"He is remorseful, regrets it and is sorry for it," he said.
He said the qualified carpenter would feel the driving disqualification every day.
Magistrate Simon Brown said Parkes' behaviour frightening and at the least a huge annoyance for the publican.
"Police became involved and took you home and had a word to your partner and you took it into your own hands and drove back," he said.
"You recorded a monstrously high reading which was more than five times the legal limit."
He fined him $500 for returning to premises and disqualified him from driving for two years and three months and fined him $1750 for exceeding 0.05.
With court costs, Parkes must pay $2338.04.
