Tasmanians celebrating New Year's Eve were generally well behaved and followed COVID-19 guidelines, says the Acting Inspector of Launceston Police Station.
Acting Inspector Dean McMahon said there was a large number of people in Launceston CBD to celebrate the new year but, there was not much antisocial behaviour.
He said a couple of arrests were made but they were mainly in the suburbs.

"We had a high visibility police presence across the state. We were mainly focused on antisocial behaviour and naturally with Operation Crossroads the fatal five," Acting Inspector McMahon said.
"There were seven drink drivers across the state and in general terms anti social behaviour was quite good. Tasmania Police was pleased overall."
Inspector McMahon said police in the Southern district had a busy night with a lack of events pushing some antisocial behaviour to the suburbs of Hobart.
He said police were investigating an assault at Moonah which resulted in two people being hospitalised.
On the West Coat two arrests were made at Burnie Carnival including of one man who invaded the field.
