What Tasmanian events have been cancelled because of coronavirus?

The new time frame for the Games will not see its return to Launceston until April 19-24 in 2022.

Transplant Australia's chief executive officer Chris Thomas said the company remains "100 per cent committed to delivering the Transplant Games in Launceston" when it can be done safely and successfully.

"Transplant recipients are subject to extra health care considerations," he said.

"The games are to celebrate life, not to put life at risk."

Mr Thomas said the effect of COVID has reached further than the games, with transplants and organ donations heavily affected since the start of the pandemic.

He emphasised the need to spread the message to register for organ donation as the pandemic eases.

"It'll be really important that we get the messages out there about the gift of life and the need to register."

The Transplant Games join the evergrowing headcount of postponed and cancelled events in Tasmania since the pandemic hit earlier in the year.

The announcement comes just days after The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra called off their beloved Symphony under the Stars event and a week after the annual Launceston Carols by Candlelight event was also cancelled.

These events have joined other treasured festivals such as Dark Mofo and the Taste of Tasmania in closing their doors until restrictions ease.

Since the pandemic hit we have also seen the adaptability of some organisations, such as the Tasmanian Craft Fair and Agfest, by catering to the restrictions and holding their events online.

However, festivals such as Junction's new Hometown, Mona Foma, and BeerFest have announced they will still proceed, but in a COVID safe manner, to bring joy and spirit back to the community.
