His Bombers side listened and the ball is well and truly in motion with the minor premiers trouncing Glenorchy 17.11 (113) to 3.7 (25).
Whitford himself was North Launceston's best in a day that saw the reigning premiers put on one of the more dominant opening-quarter displays of football you'll see.
The Bombers kicked 8.4 while holding Paul Kennedy's Magpies scoreless, turning the tables on their round seven contest where Glenorchy achieved the feat.
Despite having big-name targets in Jackson Callow, Bart McCulloch and Tom Bennett on the sidelines, Whitford's men continued to break away as scoring slowed.

Callen Daly miraculously got one through a contested area to snap the first Magpies major for the day almost 10 minutes into the second as his side began to hold their own.
But North kicked three quick ones in the final minutes of the first half to lead the inside 50s count 30 to nine at the main break.
Anything the Magpies did, the Bombers did better as Glenorchy linked up for their best passage of the day in the third but the Bombers produced one of the stronger plays of the year to goal at the other end.
The trend continued while Mitch Rainbird and Aaron Roberts kicked the Magpies' remaining two but Zac Burt would be the main man up forward for the Bombers - booting 4.3.
He was ably assisted by the returning Jack Rushton and Jack Avent, who found himself playing a small forward role, as the pair kicked three.
Braden van Buuren was the strongest Bomber in defence as Glenorchy's former Launceston pair Tom Cleary and Ethan Conway were recognised alongside Daniel Joseph.
Courtesy of an early injury to ruck James Deegan, Conway found himself under-sized against star Alex Lee but wasn't embarrassed against the competition's best.
Both Northern sides battle for grand final glory next weekend as the Bombers face Clarence at home while Launceston host Lauderdale at Windsor Park.
TSLW
While Whitford's men charged into their finals campaign, Dean Smith's TSLW side's momentum hit the brakes earlier in the day.
Both the Bombers and Glenorchy failed to register a goal in the first term but the visitors kicked away for a 8.17 (65) to 0.2 (2) victory.
While recording the strong victory, the Magpies still struggled to make the most of their opportunities, kicking 4.6 in the second quarter alone.
Sarah Skinner would lead the way by foot, booting three as Elise Barwick (two), Brieanna Barwick, Jemma Webster and Perri King all found the big sticks.
Former Launceston player Libby Haines was one of the Magpies' best as North were led by young guns Ella Maurer, Zoe Bourne, Ruby Slater, Courtney and Sophie Farrow and Raigan Kettle.
The Bombers will be tested again next week in their first finals series, taking on Launceston at Windsor Park.
