The purchase coincides with $1 million in state government funds directed towards George Town initiatives.
Theses initiatives are geared at reactivating the town's community in key areas and redeveloping key infrastructure to better serve locals.
George Town Future Impact Group leadership chairperson Anne Cameron said COVID-19 had emphasised a gap in digital literacy in George Town, resulting in the creation of 'digital warriors' to help fill that gap.
The RSL will help lay the groundwork for this re-invigoration, serving as a hub for FIG, digital warriors as well as hospitality training services and a meeting place for future mountain bikers to utilise.
"What we hope to do is create opportunities in hospitality and tourism to match with the exciting initiatives in the mountain bike space," Ms Cameron said.
"But also to open up opportunities and skills development in circular and green economies and emerging opportunities for social enterprise."

George Town mayor Greg Kieser said the RSL was a much-loved piece of the municipality, and that it was exciting to see its use continue.
"This asset will have many uses over the years and will be owned by the community of George Town, but I really identify with the first stage of usage which is to build hospitality training centre for our youth to create pathways," he said.
"This will also be a place for the Future Impact Group to run community initiatives and run the digital warrior program."
Strategic Growth Minister Sarah Courtney said the $1 million contribution would help all aspects of George Town's revitalisation.
"We're looking at how we can invest in people, but also in infrastructure ... the RSL is a very known and loved part of George Town so it's wonderful to have the heart of George Town reactivated for the community," she said.
