Shannon James Duffy, 31, earlier this year pleaded guilty to the murder of Mr Turner, 22 of Gagebrook.
Duffy shot Mr Turner in the early hours of April 14, 2019, on Colebrook Road near Richmond.
His body was found by a member of the public two or three hours later and Duffy spent five days covering up evidence before he was located by police in Fingal.
On a previous occasion, Crown prosecutor Linda Mason told the court Duffy had shot his friend after he had been told to teach him a lesson for his alleged involvement in a deliberately lit house fire.
Ms Mason said Duffy had later told police he had shot the man after he had been told by a 14-year-old girl, with whom he was in a romantic relationship, that Mr Turner had sexually assaulted her.

Appearing in the Hobart Supreme Court on Tuesday, Duffy's previous lawyers formally withdrew from the case during what was scheduled to be a hearing for sentencing submissions.
Duffy's new lawyer Frances McCracken requested the matter be adjourned to allow her to gain further instructions from her client.
She said further investigations undertaken in the last week would impact Duffy's plea mitigation.
The Crown did not oppose the adjournment.
Justice Michael Brett questioned Ms Mason as to how he should consider Duffy's motive and post-offence conduct in his sentence.
"The general proposition is it seemed to be an act of retribution," Justice Brett said.
Ms Mason said Duffy's post-offence conduct was relevant to remorse.
"It illustrated that Duffy was involving others in his criminal activity," Ms Mason said.
"It's relevant as to what he was prepared to do to escape punishment."
A further hearing was scheduled for October 16 at 10am.
