A decision on the future of the Tasmanian tiger statues in the Brisbane Street Mall has not been made.

The City of Launceston council began reviewing the level of risk the bronzed statues posed to foot traffic after a number of people fell or tripped over them.
In April, the council's mayor Albert van Zetten said a new risk assessment was underway on the statues and the findings would be released.

However, the council's chief executive Michael Stretton said it was considering various changes to the city's CBD but there were no announcements yet.
"In terms of the thylacine public art installations, we are continuing to monitor and assess any impacts they are having on users of the mall," he said.
"At this stage, no decision has been made in respect to their future."
An initial risk assessment, prior to the statues erection, deemed the installation acceptable.
Previous ideas to raise the statues off the ground were shot down by the council in April because it was found soft fall would need to be installed to meet regulations.
