The road was reopened about 11pm on Saturday.
Traffic diversions were in place following a major oil spill.
The spill extended from Loira to Exeter over a distance of about five kilometres, covering both lanes of the highway.
Southbound traffic was diverted onto the Batman Highway, while northbound traffic was diverted onto Rookery Road.
The spill was first reported about 6pm on Saturday.
