Leonard William Riley, of Mowbray, pleaded guilty to a raft of charges from October-November last year including driving, stealing, unlawful possession, firearms and breach of bail offences.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Police prosecutor Jarrod Lightfoot said Riley was driving a stolen Mitsubishi Triton in Holbrook Street when police spotted him go through a red light.
After defying an order to stop Riley reversed the vehicle into the police car pushing it about half a metre backwards.
Police sprayed capsicum spray through an open window but Riley resisted arrest and struggled violently.
Mr Lightfoot said that in October police had called at a house in which Riley was staying and found a stolen Honda 650cc motorcycle.
Mr Riley and a jointly charged woman denied any knowledge of the motorcycle "even though it was in the middle of their lounge room".
Riley pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of the motor cycle which had been stolen in Mowbray the day before.
The court heard that Riley had 41 pages of prior convictions and had been paroled from a 13-month sentence just five months before the latest charges.
Defence counsel Hannah Goss applied to Magistrate Sharon Cure for Riley to be assessed for a drug treatment order even though two previous orders in 2010 and 2013 had been a failure.
She sought details of a three-and-half-year jail sentence Riley served in South Australia and adjourned sentencing to February 5.
He is remanded in custody.
