It's part of a $60 million federal cash injection into council areas most affected by fires across the nation, announced on Thursday.
The Break O'Day grants provide for temporary living expenses if a person's principal place of residence is no longer fit to live in or is inaccessible (up to $9400 over six months); replacement of essential household items (up to $9400 depending on the size of the property) and; repair and restoration works to reestablish the basic, minimum living standard of a property (up to $9400).
The grants will be made available for three months after the impact and applications can be submitted subject to insurance claim outcomes.
Federal Natural Disaster and Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud said the grants would "give dignity" to Break O'Day communities as they sought to recover.
"We will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with these communities and provide further assistance as it is needed," he said.
Premier Will Hodgman said the grants were targeted at those who weren't in a position to fund their own recovery.
"We recognise the significant financial pressure natural disasters can place on councils, and in recognition of this, financial assistance is also being made available to support Break O'Day Council in providing immediate emergency assistance to individuals and families," he said.
