Launceston's Chayce Jones has done his 2020 round one hopes no harm, crossing the line first in Adelaide's pre-season 2km time trial on the weekend.

Beating home fellow 2018 first-round draftee Ned McHenry, Jake Kelly, Riley O'Brien and Brodie Smith, the 19-year-old shares a close bound with McHenry.
"We've run a couple of times together - it's probably about even now," Jones told South Australian media.

"It's good competition and it makes you better out of it all."
Playing eight games in his first season at the Crows, Jones' best performance came in the final-round loss to the Western Bulldogs where he collected 18 disposals, seven marks and four tackles.
"It's nice to keep (my time) relatively similar to last year while putting on a few kilos," he said.
"I definitely want to push myself to get in the (midfield) so it's all about putting your foot forward in the pre-season."
