Tasmanian firefighters have been battling a bushfire in Mathinna for four days, with a severe fire danger rating predicted for the area, the North East and East Coast districts on Thursday.

The blaze had burnt 1259 hectares of land near Golden Gate Road by Tuesday afternoon, but remained at an advice level warning from TFS with no immediate threat issued.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Alex Melitsis said on Thursday the state was looking at temperatures 10 to 15 degrees higher than average for this time of year.
A maximum of 34 degree is forecast for parts of the east on Thursday.
"We're looking at a really significant fire weather day on Thursday, with severe fire dangers expected down the east of Tasmania," he said.
"Generally very high fire dangers for the remainder of the inland and southern areas."

Winds up to 40 to 50 km per hour are expected and Mr Melitsis said wind gusts up to 90 to 100km per hour could lead to increased fire activity.
TFS had four light tankers, a personnel carrier, a medium tanker and rotary wing on site on Tuesday.
