Outlet Speed Reduction
WHAT an absolute joke dropping the speed limit by 20 km/h on the southern outlet hill. How about people take responsibility for poor driving?

Why don't the police do their job and book these poor accident-causing drivers?
All this does is make their poor driving legal, like sitting in the right-hand lane will now be legal because the road has a 90km/h limit not 110km/h. That has to be one of the biggest accident-causing, traffic-blocking things in Tasmania and, I would bet, the biggest cause of accidents on this section of road. Poor, poor decision.

Centrelink
I READ in (The Examiner, November 15) the simple error that was made by a woman who cared for her mother as did I 40 years ago, when I learned a very valuable skill.
Always make a copy of any forms you or your loved ones fill out for Centrelink word-for-word, tick-for-tick, cross-for-cross, and signature. It's worse now than it was then, you're now dealing with non-human beings.
At least you could once talk to them and get them to admit their mistakes.
Not so now, it's only a means by which those with power can intimidate and penalise those who have nothing and no-one to turn to for assistance.

Not the Time
SEVERAL times during the week ending November 17 the phrase "not the time" was used regarding dialogue on NSW bushfires, and I racked my brain trying to remember where I had heard it before.
Oh yes, we have heard it several times.
In fact we hear it each time there is a mass murder on a school campus in US.
It is usually suggested by a person connected to the national riflemen's association and is then forgotten until the next event of the same kind. Sincerely hope that this is not going to be the agenda of that side of politics in our country.

Leaving Liberal Roots
IN RESPONSE to the editorial (The Examiner, November 17), the decision to push forward with planning to build the Northern Prison in Westbury could well be the undoing of the state Liberal government at the next election.
This issue is bigger than losing votes in a small village. As a dyed-in-the-wool, baptised-at-birth Liberal voter I'm questioning if the Liberal values I hold are the same as those currently elected. The spin, the lack of consultation and the trite email responses to heartfelt concerns are causing me to question future support of the Liberals.
My family in other electorates feel the same. Come next election day, as my voting family take a "how to vote" card from a different party, our Liberal ancestors may well roll in their graves.

Drug Testing
THE message that the drug testing lobby gives is very irresponsible
Drug testing never makes drug taking safe. Drug taking will negatively affect mental and physical health, regardless of whether the drugs have passed a test or not.
