Spring celebration
Woolmers Estate will mark 10 years of the Festival of Roses with more than 5000 different rose varieties and a new element, a children's wonderland. Plus, an antiques fair, entertainment and more than 80 stalls. It's on Sunday, November 17, at the 19th-century estate, from 10am to 3pm.

Slag Queen and friends
Tassie indie label Rough Skies Records is excited to present Slag Queens - the post-punk group is returning home to Launceston after a big year of touring their debut album 'You Can't Go Out Like That'. They will be joined by Melbourne feminist brat-wave duo Heart and Rockets, Hobart garage rock 208L Containers, and sad and angry partial-Launcestonians Dolphin. The showcase is playing at the Royal Oak on Saturday night from 8pm, $10.
Barber of Seville
Opera classic at the Princess
For over 200 years, Rossini's The Barber of Seville has kept audiences laughing uproariously. With its farcical plot and instantly recognisable music, it remains one of the best-loved and most-performed operas in the world. The Victorian Opera are spreading the laughs with a new concert-stage version of the comic masterpiece, with the help of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. It will be performed at Launceston's Princess Theatre on Thursday, November 21, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $39 - $75 depending on seating, through the Princess Theatre or theatrenorth.com.au
Prada's Priscillas
All-male drag revue
Darlings! Prada's Priscillas are coming to the Princess Theatre. Flanked by gorgeous men, lead singer Prada Clutch & her 'girls', take you on a journey from where it all began with Les Girls in the 60's, across the Aussie outback with Priscilla Queen of the Desert in the 90's, & into today with a celebration of today's music icons. The ninety-minute all-male revue features some of Priscilla Queen of the Desert's greatest hits. It's on Saturday night at 8pm, tickets $65 adult through the Princess Theatre or theatrenorth.com.au
The Ugly One
IO Performance play
Directed by Zoë Vandervelde, this IO Performance theatre production is a "savage social satire" about a man who, when discovering he is unspeakably ugly, transforms into an Adonis with the help of a plastic surgeon. It's on at 1pm and 8pm and Saturday at IO HQ, 180 Cimitiere Street, $30 adult, $20 concession.
Franklin Fair
Heritage fundraiser
The historic Franklin House will be hosting their annual and ever-popular Family Fun Day on Saturday, November 16, from 1aam to 3pm. The event will be breaking out the skittles and ring toss kits for attendees to enjoy some old fashioned games in keeping with the estate's rich history.
Frame of Mind
Mental health fundraiser
Frame of Mind is a mental health organisation, run by people with lived experienced with depression and anxiety as well as training. On Saturday there will be a fundraiser at the Kingsway Barber Shop from 11am-2pm, with a food truck, live music, and money from the haircuts going to the charity.
