Having paired up absent duo Dane Anderson (unavailable) and Matthew Battle (hamstring) in the Shamrocks' three batting innings to date, captain Daniel Murfet has called on Kieren Hume to partner Dom Barrett in the latter's first A-grade appearance this year.

Nick Spencer's return should be the only other change.

"There'll definitely be a bit of a re-shuffle of the batting order this week," Murfet said.

"[Hume] has sort of turned himself into more of an off-spinner for us, but he's opened the batting and batted in the top five and six of first-grade sides for a fair while now, so hopefully he can fill a hole and make some runs there for us as well."

Murfet said his side was looking forward to playing out its first full game since October 19.

"We haven't been able to get a decent hit in yet - it's been two weeks since anyone's had a bat so it's like we're starting the season all over again this weekend if we get out there," the wicketkeeper-batsman said.

"It'll be a good test for us - we know when we come up against South we're going to be pushed all the way so there's a bit of a carrot there knowing they're going to be up there again this season."

Tom Waller's South Launceston has made just one change for the clash, recalling Sisitha Jayasinghe for young opener Doug Ryan.

Nathan Philip's 133 on the same weekend last year ensured the Knights tasted victory at Westbury and Waller says harnessing the same intent will be key to his side's chances - as will the form of new duo Anders Bulow and Ishang Shah.

"Anders is obviously starting to hit his straps," Waller said.

"It was a pretty good wicket a fortnight ago against Wynyard in that it had a good amount of pace and bounce and he showed when he really puts it into the wicket he can get a fair bit of bounce because he's quite a tall lad.

"Nick Spencer's been a handful out there for many a year, so hopefully Anders might be able to extract what he does out there with a bit of bounce and carry."

ELSEWHERE IN SPORT

RIVERSIDE remains in search of its second win and should fancy its chances in a home clash with bottom-of-the-table Mowbray.

The Blues were rained off at 3-114 against Launceston last round on a day captain Tom Garwood described as both promising and disappointing.

"It was disappointing the rain came because we started really well," the in-form left-hander said.

"We're looking to take the positives out of those 20 overs so that's what we can do - we've learned a lot from it so that's good.

"Mowbray are in the same boat as us with wins and losses so it's going to be a tight game - we need to play good cricket."

Young all-rounder Cooper Anthes and new opener Dan Forster will miss.

Mowbray will play twice over the weekend after their round four trip to Devonport was rescheduled to Sunday.

The Eagles enjoyed their best batting innings of the season last round amid constant drizzle and are determined to bring more of the same across the weekend.

"I think we were pretty happy with how it went - a few blokes made some runs and batted some time which was ideal," Eagles captain James Storay said.

"I think now it's a matter of maintaining what we've done and know we can post competitive totals.

"The next phase of that will be getting at least one bloke to 50 when they're making those partnerships and building an innings."

Storay will return to captain the side after missing several matches, while Luke Scott will only play in the Sunday fixture against an Orions side likely to feature Raiders stars Mile Barnard and Anish Paraam.

"Every game that we play is going to be good for our young list getting experience playing against the best possible players that other teams around the coast have available," Storay said.
