Plans to expand the site were revealed on Wednesday. More than 10 retail sites would be built on to the site, including a further proposal for an upper level.
Chamber executive officer Neil Grose said new business investment in Launceston was always welcome.
"[It's] a further sign that business overall in Launceston is doing well," he said.
"As with any new investment, developers will weigh up the advantages in growing new retail spaces where they see opportunity for growth and demand and proceed accordingly."

He said the suburban shopping precincts around Launceston appeared to be performing strongly and it is perhaps not surprising to see new investment here.
"The empty shops in the CBD are reflective of different circumstances and different market forces and would in all probability be unrelated to expansion plans at Kmart," Mr Grose said.
More than 50 car spaces will be removed, leaving 529 spaces. According to traffic guides, the site needs to offer about 400 spaces for its size.
The development application is open for public comment until Thursday, November 11.
