Terrible Parking

I like so many shoppers do not think there is now enough parking for shoppers in this precinct.
Meadow Mews management, in their wisdom/or lack thereof, felt it necessary to place the parking under Care Car Park.
I understand that retailers in this complex pay a fee to Care Car Park, but as there are so many facilities in this area, we the public, have been put at a disadvantage since this came into operation.
Let's take a look at all the types of businesses out there, not only Coles Supermarket and other business in the Meadow Mews complex itself, but two doctors surgeries, banks, chemists and so on where you can't always get a park.
Coles don't even provide parking for their staff which necessitates them to park in Guy Street and trying to drive through there during the week with staff parked on one side of the street makes it very difficult for homeowners and other traffic to negotiate that street.
Also, having been "caught" and the fine was later dismissed, you can't even go back into the Meadow Mews car park more than once in a day. We did this a couple of years ago, taking our eldest grandson to get an ice cream at Wendy's in the afternoon after I had been to Coles supermarket in the morning.
I came out to find a ticket on the windscreen even though our car was not parked in the same spot as in the morning. We disputed this by telephone and Care Car Park asked if we had a receipt. We explained that Wendy's don't (we didn't feel the need to ask) give a receipt, and after much discussion, they wavered the fine.
I have quite often remembered something I may need or forgot when out there in the morning and have to go back in the afternoon.
This never used to be the case, and I don't think that too many "abused" the privilege of parking their cars there all day.
A few years ago you could quite happily go to Coles, conduct any other business such as banking without the worry of getting fined if not only using Meadow Mews. And since the Commonwealth Bank has decided to remove their ATM from this complex, their customers need to access the ones outside the bank on Hobart Road.
This shopping-business area has outgrown what parking is available, perhaps it is time for the management of Meadow Mews to apply and spend money on an application to make the car park another level.

A Touch of Sorrow
I FEEL a tad sorry for Tasmania's Health Minister Sarah Courtney who has inherited a broken public health system, with many patients dying around her.
As a terminally ill Tasmanian reliant on the PBS (public benefit scheme), I'll go easy on the new health minister by asking her a few simple questions. Why are there no dermatologists (skin specialists) available on the PBS? Why are there no psychiatrists available on the PBS?
I'll let you off the four-year wait to see a neurologist, however, I have now been waiting for more than five years for a test for cancer, during that time my stage-two emphysema has progressed to stage three.
Any chance of speeding things up?

AFL Grand Final
With the AFL's "last day in September" this weekend, please spare a moment for Tasmania Police, as this weekend is one of the organisation's busiest, mainly due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Compared to music festivals, where violence is minimal, before, during and after events, pills are omnipresent with potential death a real possibility due to a lack of pill testing as a form of quality control - one drug of choice is legal, the other drugs of choice are illegal.

Politicians' Behaviour
MY wife and I sat in our lounge eating tea together when in the news bulletin our Prime Minister and his Liberal mates along with Labor leader Anthony Albanese and his mates had a bit of a falling out. The name-calling, the abuse, the shouting and finger-pointing that was thrown about in that few minutes was enough for me to realise that if they are the best politicians to run our country, then Australia is in a bad way. It was disgusting behaviour for grown men who are our leaders.

North-East Rail Line
I HAVE been watching with interest the ongoing saga of the two groups arguing over what will be done with the disused North-East Rail Line.
There are some arguments for both sides proposals, but I find the pigheaded refusal of either side to reach any sort of compromise absolutely breathtaking.
Yes, there are many people who would enjoy riding bikes on the trail but I can understand the concerns of farmers through whose properties they would ride.
I am sure a train trip would be quite popular, but despite what the enthusiasts say, I am sure it would have to be heavily subsidised on such a long length of line.
If a compromise could be reached, we have the opportunity to make a start on two good tourist developments, but the way things are going it looks like it will never happen.

Australia Day Vote
HOW dare City of Launceston councillors change Australia Day celebrations.
It is not "Launceston Day", it affects all of Australia.
It is time this council got off its high horse and back to managing the three "R's" it was designed to do - roads, rates and rubbish - in its local area.
