And this year is set to be no different with the 65th Youth Drama Festival to get underway.
Organised by the Deloraine Dramatic Society, the events will celebrate being on stage for 65 years.
It offers a performance platform to school children, young scriptwriters and budding thespians and dancers to create new plays within a professionally adjudicated festival structure.
IN OTHER NEWS:
There are three sections represented on stage - senior, intermediate and junior - with a selection of prizes and trophies awarded at the end of the festival for best actor and actress, runners up and best ensemble in each category.
There is also the Justin Treffrey Memorial Trophy for best male performance during the festival and the John R Furmage Memorial Trophy for the best female performance.
"These are perpetual trophies named in honour of founding members of The Deloraine Dramatic Society, which began life in 1951," organisers said.
"This year we will be showcasing 28 original performances complete with costumes and set design elements, from predominantly Northern Tasmanian youth performance groups and schools - including Home Education, local dance school Dance Connection and the Deloraine Theatrical Youth Club."
The statewide representation of participating schools changes every year.
The club believes it is the oldest continuously-running festival of its kind in Australia.
Dayna Dennison will be the adjudicator.
The festival will start on September 17, with curtains closing on September 20. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, children under 13 are $5 with a family ticket costing $20.
Events will be held at the Little Theatre on Emu Bay Road. A light supper, complete with Deloraine Dramatic Society's "legendary" scones will be available for a gold coin donation.
