Arriving at the club as a Next Generation Academy member courtesy of pick eight in last year's national draft, Thomas has played 19 games in his maiden AFL season.
The 19-year-old said he had been "really excited" to extend his future at the Roos.
"I love what this club stands for and what it's all about, and I can't wait to be part of what's to come," he said.
"We have a great group of young players coming through.
"I've really been a part of the club for a few years through the academy, so when I started I was really comfortable and felt like part of the team straight away.
"I've loved my first year and have learnt so much - I'm looking forward to getting a full pre-season in and improving next year."

A two-time TSL premiership player, Thomas has kicked multiple goals on five occasions this year - the second of which earned him a Rising Star nomination.
Thomas' new deal tops off a stellar debut season for both he and fellow Northern Tasmanian top-10 pick Chayce Jones, who signed a three-year extension in July.
New Kangaroos coach Rhyce Shaw said the move to re-sign Thomas had been a no-brainer.
"I don't think I've seen a cleaner pair of hands in a first-year player than the ones Tarryn Thomas has," the former Collingwood and Sydney half-back said.
"His ability to take the ball first time, absorb pressure and then create for his teammates is second to none.
"I think Tarryn could play anywhere, literally anywhere. But, I do think he could end up in the midfield when his body matures a bit more."
