The Devonport product and his North Melbourne teammates will visit their Tasmanian home away from home, Hobart's Blundstone Arena, for Saturday's clash with Melbourne with Brown holding a four goal lead after cracking double-figures for the first time in his 120-game career.
The 26-year-old kicked 10.1 in the Kangaroos' big win over Port Adelaide, a goal haul which saw him go from six goals behind Greater Western Sydney's Jeremy Cameron to four ahead with the Giant sidelined due to a hamstring injury, with Brown's season total now 62.30.
As well as the question marks over Cameron's availability, the other thing in Brown's favour as he chases his first Coleman is that Blundstone Arena has traditionally been a happy hunting ground for Brown.
He is the leading goal-kicker in the ground's AFL history with 33.19 in 17 outings, with two five goal hauls, while he has also kicked 19.9 in nine career matches against the Demons.
He is on track to make it back-to-back Tasmanian Coleman medalists after Clarence's Jack Riewoldt at Richmond last year with 70.36, who ironically was the last player to kick 10 goals in a match in round 21 last year against Gold Coast.
On Saturday, Brown was as efficient as he was accurate, with his 11 scoring shots coming from just 14 touches, with his first 10 shots all going straight through the middle.
He also took six marks, all inside 50, and laid one tackle after Tom Clurey, who had kept him goalless early in the season, started as his direct opponent.
Teammate Tarryn Thomas, who was drafted from North Launceston, had 11 touches, two marks, two clearances, four tackles, 0.1 and five score involvements from half-forward as North bounced back after managing just one goal the previous week against Geelong.
Riewoldt was also a goal-kicking hero on the weekend, after his winning major with four minutes remaining in Richmond's heart-stopper against West Coast in the wet.
He bounced back after a quiet start as the Eagles got the jump on the Tigers to finish with 2.1 from 15 possessions, four marks, three tackles, three inside 50s, two goal assists and seven score involvements with Tom Barrass his main opponent.
He was also robbed of two marks due to the controversial interpretation of "studs-up" in a marking contest.
George Town ruckman Toby Nankervis was withdrawn from the Richmond side on Friday due to "general soreness" following his return against Carlton the previous week.
An adductor inury earlier in the year derailed his season.
With Ivan Soldo and Mabior Chol performing strongly in the ruck, Nankervis faces a nervous wait to see whether he is part of the Tigers' plans for the finals.
Lauderdale's Mitch Robinson defied injury to again be a key part of Chris Fagan's Brisbane side as it defeated Geelong in a thriller to move to the top of the ladder.
Not even a knock to the hip in the third quarter could limit Robinson, who collected 25 possessions at 68 per cent disposal efficiency, with 18 uncontested and five intercepts, 10 marks, one clearance, four tackles, three rebound 50s, six inside 50s and 0.1.
In defence for Geelong, Launceston's Jake Kolodjashnij had six possessions, two marks and three tackles.
In Adelaide, Burnie's Brody Mihocek was quiet in Collingwood's win over Adelaide with 0.1 and three score involvements with Daniel Talia his opponent.
He had 12 possessions, five marks, two tackles and three inside 50s.
Dodges Ferry's Jeremy Howe was at his high-flying best against the Crows with yet another example of aerial excellence with a "screamer" in the Adelaide Oval outing.
He put in another strong showing in defence for the Pies, collecting 23 possessions at 93 per cent disposal efficiency, with 14 uncontested and nine intercepts.
Howe also took 11 marks, with seven intercept marks and four contested, four rebound 50s, two inside 50s, one goal assist and four score involvements.
Launceston's Chayce Jones was a late in for the Crows for the seventh game of his AFL career, and collected 13 possessions, one mark, two clearances, one tackle and three score involvements across half-forward.
Burnie's Lachie Weller was a shining light in Gold Coast's big loss to Hawthorn on Sunday with another solid game from defence for the Suns.
Weller collected a season-high 29 possessions, going at 79.3 per cent disposal efficiency with 18 uncontested possessions, six marks, five clearances, seven rebound 50s, three inside 50s, two tackles, 1.0 and two score involvements.
Robbie Fox, another Burnie product, put in a solid performance as Sydney defeated Melbourne to open the round on Friday night.
Fox, who had a role on the night across half-back, had a season-high 18 possessions at 72 per cent disposal efficiency, with 14 uncontested possessions and four intercepts.
