The Dorset Council reviewed its Payment of Councillor Expenses and Provision of Facilities policy at Monday's meeting, with several changes.

The first was that councillors may now keep the tablet supplied to them by ratepayers after their four-year term, for their own personal use.
"The memory of each device will be fully erased and the item placed on the Council's gift register," the agenda said.
"Note the market value of these devices after four years is negligible."

The second was a change in the process for how councillors claim travel expenses.
In the past, travel expenses had to be approved by a resolution of the council, whereas now, they can be signed off by the general manager.
If the general manager refuses the expenses the request then goes to council.
Councillors are entitled to professional development of up to $2000 in year one and $1500 in each following year, with $5000 per year for the mayor.
