Tasmania's lower house made changes to the Food Act last week which would allow the businesses to apply for a single statewide notification to operate.
The changes would mean mobile food businesses would no longer be required to seek notifications from councils in the areas they operate.
City of Launceston council general manager Michael Stretton said the council welcomed the proposed changes.

"The amendment means that both mobile notifiable and mobile registered food businesses are now afforded similar provision to meet their notification obligations under the Food Act," he said.
Health Minister Michael Ferguson last week said the amendment would remove unnecessary duplication and improve administrative processes.
