Break O'Day mayor Mick Tucker, Glamorgan Spring Bay mayor Debbie Wisby, and Sorell mayor Kerry Vincent are concerned $17.1 million in grants announced by the Coalition for their municipalities is not secure.

Cr Tucker said the funding came from the Community Infrastructure Grants and the Drought Communities Programme and would have significant impacts across the region.

"These grants are fully funded from the current 2018-2019 budget, we have received the official letters of grant funding approval and announcements have been made to our residents and ratepayers," he said.

Cr Tucker said it was disappointing federal Denison Labor MHR Julie Collins and federal Lyons Labor MHR Brian Mitchell had not confirmed the party would honour the commitments.

"These grants are not election promises, they are legitimate grants that our respective councils have worked hard to achieve," he said.

Ms Collins said Labor had been "upfront about the nature of our commitments" and would say more about their plans in coming weeks.

"What Tasmanians really want to know is whether the Federal Liberals support Scott Morrison's plan to cut $35 million from our state's public hospitals," she said.

"Labor are strong supporters of Tasmanian local governments, in contrast to the Liberals who cut $18 million from our state's councils in 2014 and are now playing petty politics with taxpayers' money."

Lyons Liberal MLC Jane Howlett said about $43 million in grants had been announced by the Coalition across Lyons.

She said the grants were all approved in last year's budget, which Labor had voted for.

Lyons Liberal candidate Jessica Whelan said councils and community groups had put in a massive effort to get these grants, and Labor was now "threatening to rip that funding away".
