More than 1200 people and 70 teams took to the track at the Northern Athletics Centre, running the distance to support and remember those battling cancer.
Relay for Life Launceston chairperson Sarah Cannell said this year's run had already raised the target of $190,000 by the time the relay started.
"We didn't know if we'd quite get there but we've had a few teams really pull together at the last minute," Ms Cannell said.
"Fund raising will continue to roll in over the next week or so, and from there it will be very interesting to see where we actually get to."
In other news:
Relay for Life state manager Anthony Edwards said Launceston people have always been incredibly loyal to the event.
"It's because of these people, who come back year after year, that Relay for Life will always be a part of this community," he said.
"People are involved in Relay for Life to remember those who have passed, to celebrate those who have survived and to support Cancer Council Tasmania."
Cancer Council Tasmania chief executive Penny Egan said over its lifespan the relay in Launceston has raised more than $3.6 million to help support Cancer Council Tasmania. Ms Cannell said this year's event added more food options after receiving feedback from runners.
"We've got a couple of food vans here which is fantastic, something a bit different," she said.
