But Tim Mohr's absence on Saturday could raise eyebrows around Launceston.
The former GWS Giants ruckman played in the side's opening loss to Brisbane, but has only been named an emergency for the second preseason encounter against Richmond in his hometown.
Both Scully and Birchall took a step in their rehabilitation on Thursday instead, as the pair progressed their involvement with the main group at Waverley Park.
It is the latest encouraging sign, now graduating from lap and agility running.
"There's no timeline yet on their return, but they've both been progressing well and looked really sharp," assistant coach Darren Glass said.
Ex-Giant Scully (ankle), 27, joined the ball program in the past three weeks, while Birchall (knee), 31, moved into the skills component of training late last month.
Scully suffered a fractured fibula in his right ankle back in round two last year.
Birchall last played in round 15, 2017 after multiple surgeries and setbacks.
