Radical fringe groups and their like-minded politicians continue to push lies and misinformation in their war against tradition and cultural values of hunting and associated science-based wildlife conservation.
These radical extremist groups employ cyber-bullying tactics, aggressive posturing and emotional abuse in their propaganda against legal hunting and fishing, this is often seen most clearly during duck hunting season.
Those involved in duck hunting contribute millions of dollars and volunteer many hours into conservation efforts and inject much-needed tourism dollars into rural and remote communities.
Without hunting, enjoyed by men and women our Australia wildlife conservation would suffer.
Hunters engage and protect the environment, true stewards of our country, helping to protect it for future generations.
We should also not forget the far-reaching benefits and enjoyment of eating healthy wild protein, natural food for the table.
I bet if supermarkets closed tomorrow, these extremist and often violent activists would soon realise the benefits of wild food.
Extreme leftist groups are well funded, and unless all hunters and others with true compassion for conservation unite and stand up, we could see the end to duck shooting in this state and thus many rural communities.

Finance inconsistency
SUDDENLY on February 17, it becomes clear why this country is in such trouble.
One half of the nation’s finance team admits that he has not attempted to balance his bank statements for more than one and a quarter years.
Well no, he didn’t exactly admit it, but the fact that a $2800 plus debt was not included nor detected suggests that this was the case.
Such an amount is not pennies and halfpennies.
One finds it very difficult to believe that someone with a financial background would not notice immediately.
If the country is being monitored in a similar way, a change of government may reveal some nasty surprises.

Optus Ad
OH, Mr Guy, (The Examiner, February 20) where is your sense of humour?
All of them jiving away, especially the straight-faced middle-aged lady in a traditional kitchen apron, it’s the only ad.
I don’t mute.
If you had lived in an outer suburb of Sydney, as I did, and not be able to get Optus reception you would even more appreciate this ad. Smile with me.

Water Flow in Gorge
ONCE the Cattle Hill and Granville Harbour wind farms are completed later this year may be the Trevallyn Power Station could be mothballed thus allowing a decent environmental flow down the Cataract Gorge once more.
This would surely help to improve the water quality in the Tamar River.
Estelle Ross, Riverside.
Self-funded Retirees
FIRSTLY I will say I am not a self-funded retiree.
In answer to Ute Mueller (The Examiner, February 21) you are wrong in your assumption that no other groups in our society that receive funds without paying tax, the unemployed and pensioners, as a rule, don’t pay tax on their income.
And the majority of self-funded retirees would not get large amounts per annum from this source certainly not enough to fix the Murray Darling system.
They also have paid large chunks of tax during their working life which kept the country going and deserve this rebate for having the foresight to save for their retirement. If they decided to return to the workforce they would get a job start, what is the difference?
Rob Kenna, Riverside.
Age more than a number
People constantly tell me that the age of 50 is now the age of 40 and this is due to medical advancements and our different lifestyles of exercise, diet and knowledge.
What a load of crock.
Our politicians want all so-called aged people to work until they become eligible for a pension, irrelevant of what work one has done all one’s life.
Life experience and learning has nothing to do with obtaining a job, all it depends on is if the company or person hiring you decides if you are worth their effort and money taking into consideration the fact of how many years of work you have still left in your body or psyche.
I recently went through a medical examination and although I thought I did great, the assessor was real quick to say the dreaded words “For Your Age” you are average or above average.
As if that was supposed to be an issue??
Either I can do the job or not, who gives a flying dove on how old I am?
So please do not tell me that age is not a factor.
Go and whizz in my other pocket.
Felicity O'Neill, Westbury.
Mathias Cormann
Incredible.
It is unbelievable that Senator Mathias Cormann, the finance minister, can't look after his own finances and didn't realise that a mere $2700 for a family trip to Singapore, hadn't been charged to his credit card, by a business that has dealings with the government.
It is a valid question to ask if he can't look after his own finances, how can he look after the finances of Australia. No political affiliation.
