The park was part of the Exeter Structure Plan which was approved in 2014 after community consultation.
The park will be located on the corner of Biloo Street and Main Road.
Installation of underground assets such as irrigation systems and the marking of planting areas has already been completed including the laying of a footpath.
As well as newly paved areas, the park will include an entry to the Exeter Library, seating areas and a large grassed area.
There will also be extra parking at the rear of the library/park areas.
West Tamar Council mayor Christina Holmdahl said that as she drives past the development area every day she’s noticing the constant progress.
“The work is completed on a daily basis,” she said.
“[I’m] really happy with the progress.”
Cr Holmdahl said there are a number of completion targets set for the park in the coming months.
General construction including walling and paving is slated to be complete by the beginning of March.
Toilets will have been completely installed by the end of May.
Planting and landscaping is scheduled to complete the first stage of development in early May.
Stage two of the park development involves the construction of a caravan parking area.
There are also plans for further rest areas to be developed at the rear of the park site.
Budgeting for stage 2 will likely occur during budgetary council meetings in March.
Cr Holmdahl said that the park would be a great area for both locals and visitors of the area.
“When the park is completed it will not only provide a space for locals to enjoy and socialise at,” she said.
“It is also a place for visitors and passers by to stop, relax and take in Exeter.”
Cr Holmdahl also said there was research by the council into how best to present the park in a way that would attract people to stop on their way through and take a look and perhaps stay in the region longer.
The Exeter Library will be open normal operating hours during the developments.
